Abstract
Digitalization in port management has experienced notable growth in recent years, driving operational efficiency and automation in ports. This transformation has been especially relevant in an increasingly globalized and connected world, where the effective management of port operations is crucial. However, challenges such as COVID-19 have accelerated this digital adoption with the aim of reducing physical contact; In addition, emerging technologies such as: IoT, Blockchain, Big Data, BIM, Artificial Intelligence and Smart Port have been positioned as trends due to their significant impact, showing continuous potential. The general objective of this study is to analyze the trends, challenges and opportunities of digitalization in port management for the period 2018-2022. The methodology will be developed under a qualitative approach with a systematic review of literature, for these academic repositories such as Scopus and WoS will be reviewed. In the discussion, the results obtained in relation to our specific objectives are presented, these demonstrate that trends such as emerging technologies considerably improve operational efficiency and strategic decision making in seaports. Challenges such as COVID-19 caused a notable increase in digitalization in seaports. On the other hand, the opportunities provided by digitalization in port management offer great possibilities, having the potential to improve efficiency and competitiveness. Finally, in the conclusions and recommendations section, the scope found after the bibliographic review and results is highlighted.
