Abstract
Block 192 is one of the most important oil fields in Peru, not only because of its oil production, but also because of its properties, characteristics, and challenges for the Peruvian industry. The present study performs a characterization of the Vivian formation, the most productive in this basin, through a petrophysical study in the Carmen field, which is part of Block 192. The methodology is based on interpreting the results of the analysis of conventional and special cores obtained from wells in the Carmen field through the analysis of the Flow Zone Indicator (FZI), Rock Quality Index (RQI), and the Leverett J function with which the Hydraulic Flow Units (HFU) of the Vivian reservoir were identified. The results obtained were supported with the classification of pore families through the interpretation of Magnetic Resonance (CMR) logs; obtaining a petrophysical characterization of the Vivian reservoir in the Carmen field. Finally, a FZI correlation was developed for the southern zone of the Carmen field, based on Open Hole logs taken in reference wells. This interpretation was extended to neighboring wells so that representative synthetic FZI curves were developed in each well for the Vivian formation.
