Abstract
Mining is an industry that generates many benefits for society and is no stranger to the use of technological tools. Being a large and competitive industry, the training of professionals related to this sector must be ideal; for which the objective of this research was to determine the effect of a mobile application on the recognition of minerals by their physical properties for the use of mining engineering and geology students. For the development of the mobile application, the Open Up framework was used in an applied research and pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest. It worked with a sample of 132 students, using the survey as a technique with the questionnaire instrument, validated by experts and with acceptable reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.89). Finally, it was concluded that the mobile application had a positive effect (p=0.7) on mineral recognition
