Abstract
The objective of this research is to determine the level of desulfurization of coal by leaching with nitric acid for the manufacture of coal briquettes in the Llaray hamlet - La Libertad, we worked based on geology for the recognition of the study area and physicochemical analysis where 3 samples were taken to analyze the different properties of coal. The samples were treated by leaching with 25% nitric acid for 84 minutes at a temperature of 80 °C, obtaining an average decrease of 35% of the sulfur level, which is a significant achievement from a coal quality perspective. The study of sulfur reduction in coal is essential for society, since it would reduce pollution and improve quality, guaranteeing its price in the market and making it more efficient.
