Abstract

This work focuses on the construction sector in Latin America's warehouse management and how this will directly influence costs and activities within the organization. Furthermore, there are many companies that seek to achieve perfect order in this process, and one of the main tools that is implemented is the 5S methodology, since it helps maintain order in the warehouse, facilitates the search for materials, and guarantees the safety of the products. Therefore, the objective of this research is to describe the impact on the warehouse based on the 5S methodology in companies dedicated to the construction sector in Latin America, where a systematic review of the scientific literature is carried out in the period 2011-2021. The search for scientific articles was carried out in reliable databases such as Redalyc, Google Scholar, Scielo, Dialnet, ScienceDirect, Dspace Repository, Institutional Repository, Proquest, and Refseek. For the eligibility of publications, research was discarded according to exclusion and inclusion criteria, considering the geographical context, year of publication, etc. Additionally, when carrying out the discussion, a total of 40 scientific articles were considered, which highlight the essential characteristics of various authors when implementing the 5S method. Therefore, the results demonstrate that the impact of the 5S application helps to improve organizational culture, maintain clean and orderly spaces, reduce time spent searching for materials, and improve the quality of products or services. Finally, the most relevant aspects of the 5S methodology are discussed: increasing productivity, improving quality and an adequate work environment, and managing to improve competitiveness in companies.
