Abstract
For several years the "Programming Contest" has been held annually at the Faculty of Engineering of Universidad ORT Uruguay, aimed at groups made up of 3 students. The format is similar to that of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). The winners of the ORT Contest traditionally participate in the Latin American Regional Final of said Contest. Beyond the specific results obtained in said Contest, there are several relevant aspects related to the impact of the Contest that we understand are valuable and may be of interest to other institutions. This paper describes the experience of these years, lessons learned and reflections, and as work in progress and future, several proposals are offered.
