Abstract
The objective of this research was to characterize the mineralogy of the Milagros vein, in such a way that this allows the planning of the metallurgical treatment of the mineral that is extracted in the Granada prospect, located in the district of Santiago de Chuco, province of Santiago of Chuco and department of La Libertad. Our activities in the field allowed the mapping of the lithology, the alterations and the taking of 21 samples. In the laboratory, the mineralogical analysis was carried out with established procedures for each stage, being able to identify and characterize in detail the minerals that make up the Vein, a petrographic microscope of the ZEISS Primotech brand was used, a polarization binocular and the automated software Zeiss Mineralogic that allowed to take photomicrographs of the samples used. Due to the majority percentages of sulfides in these regimes, flotation tests were carried out to analyze the behavior of the minerals bearing economic elements and to evaluate the recovery percentage that they would present during the metallurgical treatment, in each step it was possible to verify the importance of the microscopic studies to analyze mineralogical assemblages, minerals bearing economic elements, textures, etc.
