Proposal for a Text Similarity Index for academic documents for Latin American universities

Abstract

This article presents a proposal for the percentage of text similarities for academic documents prepared by teachers, researchers and students from Latin American and Caribbean universities. Current practices are presented and a summary review of text similarity indices in European and Latin American universities and editorial funds is carried out. A summary of the similarity indexes for the publication of articles in scientific journals is also presented. Text similarity percentages are proposed as a measure of quality assurance.
