Abstract
The study aimed to compare the seismic analysis of an educational institution using 2% and 5% structural damping. To do this, using the ETABS V.16.2.1 computer program as instruments. and the National Building Regulations of Peru, static-dynamic seismic modeling was carried out in both directions and with both damping percentages; to then compare the responses of the structure (displacements, drifts, periods of vibration and basal shear) and its internal forces (axial forces, shear forces and bending moment). The first results showed that all the modules of the school complied with the maximum drift indicated by the earthquake resistant standard, but the responses of the structure had an increase between 15% and 32%, and the internal forces increased between 6% and 24%. Concluding that when using 2% of the damping, the responses and internal forces of the structure increase significantly.
