Abstract
Nowadays, companies must create an environment that encourages innovative behaviour among their employees. Openness to external sources of knowledge and the active participation of employees applying this knowledge to innovate can be a source of competitive advantage for companies. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of knowledge absorptive capacity and organizational citizenship behavior on the innovative behavior of individuals. The study has a nonexperimental cross-sectional design with quantitative approach and correlative scope and was conducted in the city of Guayaquil with a sample of 123 professionals working in different companies. Using a model of structural equations, it was found that the ability to absorb knowledge in its dimensions of acquisition and transformation positively influences innovative behavior, as does citizenship behavior in its organizational dimension.
