Abstract
One of the sustainable development goals (SDG) is to achieve quality education for all, and building and adapting educational facilities for children that offer safe learning environments is one of the goals. In this research, the seismic vulnerability of public educational institutions in a Peruvian province with seismic risk was evaluated and a proposal for structural reinforcement in the institutions was developed. For the evaluation, the methods were applied: FEMA 154 and Benedetti-Petrini and Hirosawa. Two public educational institutions in a Peruvian province with seismic risk were evaluated, finding that the pavilions of these institutions present a non-vulnerable level, where one did not meet the mechanical resistance of concrete and the other did not meet the requirements of Standard E. 030 Seismic Design with the support of Etabs software. Subsequently, the information obtained was processed and it was determined that educational institutions from a constructive and structural approach present notable differences, and it is necessary for the Regional Government to establish engineering studies in these infrastructures as a priority to safeguard the lives of children and young people. close to the return of post-pandemic educational attendance.
