Abstract
The present study aimed to determine which of the diets used in the experiment increased the weight of the pigs the most during the growth stage at the “Las Joyas” farm in Juticalpa, Olancho. The study was carried out with a convenience sample of 6 pigs that was divided into 2 batches according to their type of diet, diet-A concentrate and feed waste and diet-B only concentrate. The results obtained showed that there was a difference between both diets and with a p-value of 0.000 the equality of means was rejected; therefore, the diet of only concentrate increases the weight of the pigs more during the growth stage. Diet A was also noted to cause intestinal disease, diarrhea, leading to little weight gain in pigs fed with diet A. When comparing the results of both diets, it was obtained that the average weight gain of diet B was much higher and that to reach this average with diet A, the pigs would have to be fed 14 more days, however, there is a small cost reduction with diet A.
