Abstract
The present work shows the design and construction of a semi-automatic circular cutter prototype for a round tubular profile, using a bimetallic hole saw (punch) as a cutting tool. The prototype cuts 3/4-inch to 2-inch diameter pipe at varying degrees of rake, ranging from 90 to 60 degrees. Through a graphical user interface (GUI) the operator selects the cutting incidence angle, as well as the diameter of the pipe, in this way the prototype obtains the advance and speed parameters of the GUI to carry out the manufacturing process. The purpose of this prototype is to support the work carried out by the BAJA-SAE student chapter, a student association that develops single-seat all-terrain vehicles in accordance with the guidelines of the SAE Automotive Engineering Society.
