Abstract
A systematic review of the literature is developed around the applications of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) devices that use the low-cost Neurosky Mindwave device in the period 2016 - 2021, through the PRISMA method, in the databases IEEE Explore, ScienceDirect and Publindex. 65 publications were analyzed and classified into 12 categories, obtaining research trends in education, robotics, well-being in people with motor disabilities, marketing and emotions, Internet of Things (IoT), authentication and software development. The country that contributed the most publications was India and in 2019 the highest number of publications was registered. There is evidence of potential for the use of the MindWave device in applied research and development in the areas described above, given that this is an accessible and economical device.
