Abstract
This work proposes a real-time capacitance estimation methodology, that could be implemented in operating conditions. This algorithm is mainly oriented to be used in mechanical ventilators for the estimation of the lung’s capacity, which is analogue to the electrical capacitance. The algorithm is initially tested via ceramic capacitors, and then with an artificial lung. Results show promising results for the evaluation of the respiratory stress.
