Abstract
The present paper aims to present the results of the application of the tools and techniques provided by methods engineering to improve the production of sweatshirts in the sewing/assembling area of a textile company located in the city of Santa Anita (Lima – Peru); affected by low production efficiency and excessive processing times of sewing; in addition to a reduction in workforce due to the current COVID-19 epidemic situation, and an unattended demand for the product. Faced with this new reality, we proceeded to collect data and make operation time measurements, to tabulate the results and make comparisons, with the objective of making a diagnosis and to propose a method improvement in the sewing/assembling process that adapts to the new post COVID-19 situation. The improvement implementation in the sewing/assembling process, increased the efficiency of sewing time by 27.46%, and the production rate by 26.09%, besides of being sustainable due to the efficient use of resources.
