Abstract
In the last year, the hardware category increased its sales level by 6.4% due to the growth of the manufacturing and construction sectors. In Peru, 75% of the companies are SMEs, of which 46% work with stored products, these present problems of product rotation and obsolescence. This is for the inefficient management of the supply chain, emphasizing its warehouse and inventory management, and is reflected in the low level of service. The research integrates various engineering tools to create a warehouse management model that is easily adaptable to hardware SMEs, with the aim of optimizing process times and increasing the level of service. This model is based on the continuous improvement methodology, which relies on the use of the 5S tool and is supported by the System Layout Planning, ABC multicriteria, the systematization of inventories through a Kardex and the standardization of the work method. The results of this model were an increase in the level of service by 12%, an increase in inventory registration by 56.5% and a reduction in the times of the product reception, picking and storage processes.
