Abstract
La Guajira is a region belonging to the Colombian Caribbean that relies energetically on thermoelectric plants, since the transport of energy to remote areas and difficulties of access is very expensive, in 2017 a study was developed in which it was found that people living in a certain area of Uribia north of La Guajira which is considered a secluded area of the country only 26% of that population had electricity while that the remaining 74% did not have such service, thus creating problems with the refrigeration of their perishable food, insecurity late at night and early morning among other problems. Thanks to its geographical location, environmental and climatic conditions, La Guajira in general is a good source of clean or alternative energies. The objective of this research is to know and understand the state of the art of electrification, its access, degree of use, and especially the implementation of clean, renewable energies that are environmentally friendly, in the remote and hard-to-reach rural areas of La Guajira, taking into account the limitations of the area, budgets, environmental elements, among others.
