Abstract:

The National League of professional Soccer of Honduras draw their calendar every semester, in other words every six months, which is the time that each Championship lasts, having two per year, Apertura and Clausura. The calendar is based on double Round Robin (every team plays with each other, home and away) for 10 teams. The 10 teams who participates at the championship are divided according to their location, 5 of them belong to the north zone and the other 5 belong to the central zone. Through the National League, information was obtained regarding the preparation of the calendars and the restrictions they currently use. Taking this as a basis, we studied the current calendar and observed a series of disadvantages for which we sought to improve. A binary integer linear programming model was used, where a set of criteria was analyzed (location of the teams and category of teams), seeking sport equity between the participating teams. Among these criteria are:minimize breaks, minimize the journey between soccer events, and minimize the difference in travel between teams, always taking into account the established restrictions originally by the National League and those formulated by the working group. When this analysis was carried out, the result was a decrease to 6 breaks in one round.
