Abstract:Abstract. In an Academic Institution the process of assigning courses is one of the most important tasks; it is also where a lot of time and resources are invested. Nevertheless, there is no process that guarantees efficiency, which generates a huge loss of said resources and time. AssistiveU was born from the idea of offering the university personal a tool based on key concepts of Industrial Engineering that will benefit the procedure. To show the positive impact that a software will have, a mixed lineal programing model focused on the Gastronomy bachelor’s degree in UNITEC was developed. This model considers the student demand, professor´s availability and capability, relative costs, classroom availability and special considerations, as well as schedules. Furthermore, it is considered as an intuitive tool, easy to use and flexible to changes that could come up in the bachelor’s degree study plan. The model was solved by OpenSolver. |
