Abstract:

Internet protocol Ipv6 is a technology created in the late 1990s, but it has not been implemented in network infrastructures as expected. This paper presents the IPv6 protocol, its advantages and the challenges for its adoption and proposes a mechanism to implement it in an IPv4 environment without losing connectivity with IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Finally, the paper presents a case of implementation in a real IPv4 infrastructure and the tools and configuration applied for its operation.
