Abstract:

This article shows the production process of copper sulfate pentahydrate, CuSO4·5H2O, which identifies the sources that generated losses, control indicators are determined and losses are simulated using computational tools process. Copper sulfate is used by the mining industry, which uses it as activating reagent in flotation concentrator plants zinc and lead ores, and may be destined to agriculture, livestock, chemicals and textiles. The production of copper sulfate is mainly with scrap copper and sulfuric acid, by the leaching process. To ensure proper use of sulfuric acid (solvent controlled) and identify copper losses was necessary to describe the flows and operations. It makes the material balance, identifies sources of losses, indicators are constructed and using a simulation model of the production process of the quarry, in order to plan and control the losses generated in the process of obtaining sulfate copper, using experimental data from a processing plant located in the city of Lima
