Abstract

A proposal to obtain operation curves of two-phase closed thermosyphons (TPCT) is made. The proposed method is an alternative to the complex numerical and analytical models for these devices. The objective is to study the performance of TPCT and assist its implementation in technical equipment such as: heat recovery systems, solar heaters, drying systems, among others. The dimensional analysis is used to establish a set of dimensionless groups that described the TCPT performance and enable the evaluation of different experimental measurements. The experimental setup used to test a TPCT is described; in this system it is possible to change the temperature at the condenser wall and the heat flux. Parameters such as diameter, condenser length, evaporator length and mass of work fluid are kept constant. Experimental results and the behavior of some of the dimensionless groups are presented.
