We prove that undergraduate students at our university, use Internet tools, such as Facebook, extensively for
building social networks. For that purpose we used a survey, whose results back our hypothesis. Further analisys
suggest that age and gender are not significant factors in the use of Internet tools for building social networks. Our
recommendations include using these Internet tools and foster creation of social networks, with the goal of
improving communication between the university and the students, as well as increasing their capabilities for
collaborative work and providing them greater motivation for study.
