Abstract

The research aims to establish the architecture of the KM in manufacturing, with reference to the variables associated with the KM in the dimensions: 1) creation, 2) identification and acquisition, 3) classification and storage, 4) implementation and updating, 5) transfer, and 6) measure of knowledge. Supported by four pillars corresponding to the inner shelf: culture, leadership, communities of practice, ICT, corporate reports and patents. Methodologically, this study falls in the form of field research of an explanatory nature. The results allow us to quantify the KM variables with greater incidence in the primary aluminum sector companies in Venezuela, which is comprised of ten factors that explain the variables based on 54.52% of the total variance. These ten factors are: knowledge acquisition, classification, storage and preservation, creation of knowledge, remuneration, leadership, ICT, business efficiency, perception of training, motivation and participation in decisions. This study confirms the strategic dimension of the KM and multiple factors in manufacturing.
