Abstract

The aim of this research is to design a methodological proposal for the development and management of human capital in the universities, taking as a case study the National Experimental University of Guayana (UNEG). Its fundamental premise is based on the fact that universities must be in permanent contact with the changes that take place in their context and be aware of their capacity, or lack of it, to respond to these changes. The study included two phases: the first one aimed at diagnosing the management capacity of UNEG’S academicians and the second one oriented towards the design of a methodological model to elaborate a professional development plan. The sample was based on 58 university instructors. For the compilation of the information the survey was used as the technique and the questionnaire of closed type items as the instrument. The results allowed to conclude that the structuring of the professional development planning at UNEG showed insufficiencies regarding the procedures for the elaboration of the plans, and the way the training programs and the strengthening of the personnel updating is carried out. A methodology for the elaboration of development plans is proposed.
