Abstract

There are several classifications of Environmental Services (ES); Barzev (2002), Evans (1999), Constanza (1998) and De Groot et al. (2006), agreed on the protection of water resources, scenic beauty, ecotourism, and carbon sequestration. The latter present in the atmosphere as a result of burning fossil fuels is absorbed by forest ecosystems through the process of photosynthesis. Considering that it has woodlands Venezuela-Imataca Forest Reserve, where the largest number of woodlots allotted for forest use, leads to conflicts of land use, increasing deforestation. The objetive of this study was to estimate the willingness to pay (DAP) to preserve air quality in the town of Tumeremo, applying the contingent valuation method. We interviewed 208 households, where 74% of families are willing to pay an estimated monthly average of $ 2,325. The behavior of respondents has shown that with increasing input prices, decreases the probability of receiving positive responses from the DAP. With regard to the causes contributing to the decline in forest mass, 42% said that due to forest fires.
