Abstract

Faculty development including higher degrees is one of the goals and objectives of Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions (LACCEI) as an activity among cooperation and partnership betwen member institutions. On the other hand, the mission of LACCEI is to be the leading organization of Latin American and Caribbean engineering institutions that will bring innovations in engineering education and research.
Colombian Association of Engineering Faculties (ACOFI) is aware of Colombian, Latin American and Caribbean engineering quality improvement depends on engineering academic curricula and faculty, based in teacher’s qualifications; furthermore, it is important to offer knowledge in teaching didactic and methodology to engineering faculty.
ACOFI is engaged with engineering quality improvement and assurance of ethical values in engineering. Engineering faculty development becomes the most important task for ACOFI. According with those ideas, ACOFI assigned budget in order to perform a formation seminar for Colombian engineering teachers. The seminar has already three rounds across the country in the most important cities since 2007.
ACOFI offers its experience in teaching fundamentals, methodology, logistics and managerial aspects related with the Seminar to Latin American and Caribbean engineering represented by LACCEI, in order to improve quality engineering and develop LACCEI – ACOFI´s mission objectives.
