Large-scale Integration, System-on-Chip (SoC). SoC designs make available,
on a single silicon Integrated Circuit, embedded IP (Intellectual
Property) and high-level integration at the chip level required for
performance and efficiency demanding applications. This paper describes
System-On-Chip designs from the perspective of semiconductor processing
and integration methodologies and intellectual property core technologies.
Details of the market trend, latest development in the field of SoCs like
CSoCs (Configurable SoCs) and research in educational institutions are
elaborated. A Case study based on Verisilicon’s SMIC 0.18um USB 2.0
Smart Repeater is also discussed. Mailing Address: 10555 W. Flagler Street, EC 3930 , Miami, FL 33174 Phone: 1-305-348-1708 1-786-208-8031 Other Authors: Neelima Muralidharan / nmura002@fiu.edu /FLorida International
