Michael Shapiro, MA MLIS

Client Services and University Partnership Program Manager for Latin America

Michael Shapiro has over 20 years' experience in the publishing and library industry, including Founder and President of Libros Sin Fronteras, a US-based, Spanish language book and multi-media distributor, and as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Baker & Taylor, Inc. He comes to IEEE from OCLC, where he served as Partner Development Manager for WebJunction.org, and Consulting Librarian providing reference services to customers in both English and Spanish. He is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the American Library Association (ALA), and a lifelong member and previous Executive Committee and Board Member of REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and Spanish speakers. He has published numerous articles and essays. Michael gained his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, USA, and has dual master's degrees in Latin American Studies from the University of New Mexico (MA), and Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin (MLIS). Michael is responsible for providing support to IEEE's Xplore digital library subscribers and managing IEEE University Partnerships in Latin America. He resides in Seattle, Washington.
