Abstract:

The present study details the geotechnical and structural characterization of the Ignimbrites of the Saraguro Group on the Pasaje - Santa Isabel road. The investigation allowed the structural and geotechnical characterization of these ignimbritic products. In this research, RMR and SMR methods are used to quantify, determine the quality of rock masses and suggest mechanisms to improve their stability. The rock mass appears of ""poor quality"" according to the RMR methodology, and partially stable according to the SMR. Some stability solutions are presented according to the conditions of the massif.
