Abstract:

In the municipalities near Bogotá DC. of Colombia, due to the low cost of living, population is growing faster tan normal. This area attracts inhabitants from other parts of the country and even from brother countries such as Venezuela. Those people are either in the search of better job opportunities or forced because the displacement from conflict zones. This is how, increasing in population rate in areas not planned or suitable for habitability has been created problematic region with a lack of road infrastructure, public services and housing construction without geotechnical studies. The urban perimeter of Bogotá D.C, delineates the limit with the developed municipalities, thus defining the border for the provision of public services by the entities responsible for supply. The municipalities near the capital such as: Soacha, Facatativá, Zipaquirá, Chía, Mosquera, Madrid, Funza, Cajicá, Sibaté, Tocancipá, La Calera, Sopó, Tabio, Tenjo, Cota, Gachancipá and Bojacá, are considered dormitory cities generating in them infrastructure problems due to urban growth not controlled by the State. [1] Of the 17 municipalities mentioned above, which are part of the so-called Bogotá Region, Soacha has the highest population growth calculated by 23% for 2016; This is caused by the proximity to the industrial zones of the capital, the ease mobility to the urban center of Bogotá and the low cost of land. [2] Therefore, the work developed in the class denominated “consultorios de ingenieria” (engineering consulting class) was a starting point for the analysis of the current situation of basic services in the sub-normal areas of the municipality of Soacha; it is intended to demonstrate the lack of planning for urban development, with appropriate technical conditions in risk control, exponentially widening the gap between the requirements of the population in infrastructure and the population density in the last 20 years. The present article pretends to present the result of the research carried out during the last two years with the research center Inge-social, associated with the class denominated “consultorios de ingenieria” (engineering consulting class); from which a diagnosis of the current situation of the sub urban growth of the municipality of Soacha was made and the most critical areas had being identified by a comparative analysis.
