Abstract:

It is necessary to prolong the lifespan of the Poechos Reservoir, which is silted more than 50% of its maximum capacity of 885 Hm³. We propose to desilt it gradually using water power. Based on the sedimentological, hydrological and hydraulic analysis, the behavior of the sediments was modeled with TELEMAC software. Our results show a natural canal formed with adequate hydraulic conditions, and that its velocities and shear stress are able to remove the sediment under an adequate operation.
