Abstract:

The quality criteria related to the supply operations of oncological medicines in a health service provider institution (IPS) in Colombia, were established. The Systems Dynamics methodology to analyze the current performance of drug flows, is used. The main drug for the IPS is selected, in order to analyze the operation of the variables that measure the performance of the System. Based on the results of the simulation, the proposal for quality improvement and recommendations for the medicines procurement process, is presented, resulting in the coverage of the demand, the increase in the performance of suppliers and the reduction of the total supply cost by 27%.
