Abstract:

A demand exists for biomedical scientists who can apply statistical analysis and computational methods to Big Data. The IDI-BD2K is a program that takes an interdisciplinary approach through the informal teaching of faculty and students to create community and develop biomedical data science. The paper will focus on the use of innovative hackathons and workshops combined with faculty professional development and interdisciplinary courses to spur innovation in interdisciplinary biomedical data science.
