Abstract:

A picture is worth a thousand words and a satellite image can contain a large amount of data. These data can be used to know things as simple as the movement of clouds or things as complicated and extensive as studying the population growth in a specific region. Therefore, the interest arises to take advantage of this information in order to open the possibility of exploring the versatility of digital image processing in order to study and monitor the growth of vegetation and the effects of deforestation within the territory of the Dominican Republic.
