Abstract:

The present study investigates some aspects that according to the literature emerges with the implementation of telework from the perspective of managers, in a regional context. For this purpose, it is necessary to survey 210 managers of companies in Manizales-Colombia, among which are companies that have already adopted telework, others that are in the process of implementation and others that have not yet contemplated doing so. Information is gathered on the perceived barriers and benefits with the implementation of teleworking. In the same way, tests of independence are applied in order to carry out a comparative analysis between executives of related and non to the telework companies. Appearing as main barrier the lack of dissemination and as main benefits the increase in productivity and savings in operating costs. In addition, there are differences in the perceptions of trust towards the teleworker and the difficulties in their evaluation, as well as in the perceived risk of information extraction.
