Abstract:

The International Engineering Alliance aims to promote mobility of the profession via accords and agreements among members’ economies. The Sydney Accord (SA) establishes mutual recognition of accredited qualifications for engineering technologist. Accreditation bodies must demonstrate a “substantial equivalence” with the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) Graduate Attributes Profile and Best Practices in order to enable the mobility of accredited programs graduates. ICACIT join to the Sydney Accord in 2016 as provisional member and seek reach the full membership in the following years. This paper makes a comparative analysis of the ICACIT Criteria against the IEA Graduate Attributes Profile, a qualitative judgment about the extent of alignment between the IEA Profiles and the ICACIT Criteria and based on this judgment, recommend a proposal that IEEE should provide to ICACIT; with the intention that ICACIT could be recognized by the Sydney Accord as full member.
