Abstract:

The Latin American countries have been working with the firm intention of achieving the technological and scientific development. One of the strategies to achieve success has been to increase the number of engineers as well as strengthen their academic training. Part of the mission is to share the information and create a better community conformed of students that learn leadership skills by being part of SPEED (Student Platform for Engineering Education). Workshops are provided to students increasing their interest in research, design, and project management to improve their engineering applications and ethics over their careers. The students return the assistance by overcoming local issues that affect the community either by teaching others with their experiences or through different projects that benefit the most needed. This document presents key aspects of the Organization of the (Reunión de Estudiantes de Ingeniería Colombianos) being the annual convention of Colombians engineering students established in 2014 having a tremendous success the last two consecutive congregations to educate more students at the local event of SPEED in Latin America, including methodology, objectives, activities, results and future projections. In addition to an evaluation of the generated impact over the community. Finally, it is necessary to highlight the support of associations of engineering colleges and universities, which in 2016 once more will conduct the third annual convention of Colombians engineering students. The event is essential for students to understand that they must be active in their academic development including in the learning of the topics in the academic dimension, social networking, environm
