Abstract:

This project was developed in an important company that distributes perishable products of massive consumption, from the city of Guayaquil to 173 establishments nationwide. The main objective was to reduce the distribution costs for critical routes through the implementation of a logistics tool to create efficient distribution routes. The routing problem was identified as a Vehicle Routing Problem with Mix Fleet and Time Windows. This paper proposes a heuristic method to find a solution by combining the heuristic variations for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows, and the heuristic developed for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Mix Fleet. After stating three simulation scenarios and comparing with the current situation of the company, it is shown that the heuristic significantly reduces logistics costs inherent to the distribution of products.
