Abstract:

Fodder corn is one of the most important products in Majes irrigation. In addition to its daily presence in food, corn is also excellent fodder for livestock, especially dairy cows and draft animals. It is used as cattle feed in various stages of plant growth, mainly from the time when the panicle appears. Annually 3800 hectares of feed corn are grown in the Majes irrigation. The average yield is 60 tons / ha, but the potential yield is 100 MT / ha or more. The increasing scarcity of labor (the work is delayed because there farmworkers available), and the high cost of this (the price of wage reaches 100 S /. / Day in some seasons), it has made farmers look mechanize agricultural work to ensure the execution of tasks at the right time and reduce production costs. In this project the improvement of agricultural machinery used for the production of fodder maize, focusing mainly on corn sprinkled technology using ultra low volume during the different stages of growth took place. Initially manual equipment was evaluated, finally reaching the design and optimal tractor-mounted design, using the German VDI 2222 design methodology for the design of the final prototype. During the test phase a plot of one hectare planted by precision seeder use the same project, in these tests the sprayer finally achieving a yield of 50 liters / Ha. Significantly reducing the cost of corn production and environmental contamination by chemicals. The research was conducted with the support of FINCYT, CENTRO SA and agro-export and agro AGROEXIN the Catholic University of Santa María and institutions RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND DEVELOPMENT FOR THE SOUTH.
