Abstract:

The institutions of the health sector, have been adapted to systems and information technologies that have emerged, allowing them to grow and above all, provide better and more varied services. To make proper medical decision involves a complex, serious, responsible act, it must be assumed the most comprehensive preparation, without improvisations, with minimal subjectivity and based on the established science. Commonly the analysis of hospital processes traditionally is performed through group meetings, interviews and based on personal experience, where it is analyzed how the process should run more than how to run it in reality. An innovative alternative for the analysis of processes is the Process Mining. The process mining techniques, allow to extract nontrivial and useful information from the trace records stored by information systems. This technology provides a wealth of information about how the process has behaved, it takes time in executions, as well as variations between reality and prescribed. This research aims to demonstrate why it is important and also interesting the application of this new technology in the hospital environment, the use of this is currently limited to case studies.
