Paper Title:

Simulation of a Speed Regulation System Using Finite Element Motor Model

Abstract:

A Finite Element model is utilized to create a motor drive system simulation. The FE model of and its integration with the control and drive circuits are studied.  A surface mounted PM synchronous motor is used as an example. Besides the FE simulation, the dq_model of the same machine is also built for comparison purpose. The simulation results show that the FE motor subsystem works properly with the external drive circuits and helps to reveal detailed system performances than approximate dq_model.
